HE IS RISEN, HE IS RISEN INDEED! Follow this link to watch and participate in Rouzerville United Methodist Church’s 11 AM recorded service. We are celebrating Communion, so please gather your water/juice and bread/cracker ahead of time.
Christ the Lord Is Risen Today
Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia!
Earth and heaven in chorus say, Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!
Sing, ye heavens, and earth reply, Alleluia!
Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia!
Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia!
Death in vain forbids him rise, Alleluia!
Christ has opened paradise, Alleluia!
Lives again our glorious King, Alleluia!
Where, O death, is now thy sting? Alleluia!
Once he died our souls to save, Alleluia!
Where’s thy victory, boasting grave? Alleluia!
Soar we now where Christ has led, Alleluia!
Following our exalted Head, Alleluia!
Made like him, like him we rise, Alleluia!
Ours the cross, the grave, the skies, Alleluia!
Opening Prayer ( in unison)
Lord of Life, Your sacrifice and death mean nothing unless we die to sin. Your resurrection means nothing unless we too are born again. Call us now to your state of grace and someday to your place of glory that we grow in our life in you. For all praise is yours, now and forever. Amen.
Scripture John 20:1-18
Message He Is Risen
The Wonderful Cross
When I survey the wondrous Cross
On which the Prince of Glory died
My richest gain, I count but loss
And pour contempt on all my pride
See from His head, His hands, His feet
Sorrow and love flow mingled down
Did ever such love and sorrow meet?
Or thorns compose, so rich a crown
Oh the wonderful Cross, oh the wonderful Cross
Bids me come and die and find that I may truly live
Oh the wonderful Cross, oh the wonderful Cross
All who gather here by grace, draw near
And bless Your name
Were the whole realm of nature mine
That were an offering far too small
Love so amazing, so divine
Demands my soul, my life, my all
Oh the wonderful Cross, oh the wonderful Cross
Bids me come and die and find that I may truly live
Oh the wonderful Cross, oh the wonderful Cross
All who gather here by grace, draw near
And bless Your name (repeat)
Invitation to Holy Communion
Christ our Lord invites to his table all who love him, who earnestly repent of their sin and seek to live in peace with one another. Therefore, let us confess our sin before God and one another.
Confession and Pardon (in unison)
Merciful God, we confess that we have not loved you with our whole heart. We have failed to be an obedient church. We have not done your will, we have broken your law, we have rebelled against your love, we have not loved our neighbors, and we have not heard the cry of the needy. Forgive us we pray. Free us for joyful obedience, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Hear the good news: Christ died for us while we were yet sinners; that proves God’s love toward us.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.
Glory to God. Amen.
The Great Thanksgiving
Closing Prayer
God of wonder and mystery, we give you thanks for the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, revealed to us again today. Like Mary, standing in the garden, we do not always recognize your presence with us. But when we hear your voice, may we truly say: “We have seen the Holy One, and we know that Christ is risen.” Alleluia! Amen
My Redeemer Lives
I know He rescued my soul
His blood has covered my sin
I believe, I believe
My shame He’s taken away
My pain is healed in His name
I believe, I believe
I’ll raise a banner
Cause my Lord has conquered the grave
My redeemer lives, My redeemer lives
(Repeat Song)
